Have a Question?
How does the bus transport operate?

Government funded bus services are available from most outlying areas to our school. A town bus service also operates, but a pre-paid ticket is needed for each trip. The bus service is operated by Wells Waggons who can be contacted on 6452 2900.

What if my child is late to school?

Students who arrive after the morning bell, need to visit the office at the student entrance where admin staff will sign them in.

What are my responsibilities if my child is absent from school?

If your child is unwell, you need to notify the school by 9.00am. If the office has not received an explanation for your child's absence, a text will be sent requesting an explanation.

If your child has a contagious virus/disease (eg chicken pox, school sores) they will need to be absent from school during the contagious period.

If your child is going to be absent for any other reason (i.e a scheduled appointment) you can inform the office prior to the absentee day.

How often is the newsletter printed?

The newsletter is sent home each fortnight via the School Star communication App. This App is for news items & also if a message needs to be sent home. If the App is not read within in a certain time frame, the message is then sent as a text. School Star is only available to parents of the school via their stated mobile number.

What if I need to collect my child early?

Please contact the office, in advance if possible, so that they can collect your child from class & sign them out.

Is it possible to get a message to my child?

Yes.  Messages for students need to be to the office by 2.15pm, so that it allows the admin staff sufficient time to relay the message.

What days does canteen operate?

Canteen is available at recess or lunch, Tuesday to Friday.  Orders need to be placed and paid for via the Qkr! App by 8:30am each morning.

Junior students must only use the App, but Middle & Senior students are able to purchase from the canteen.  The menu is more extensive via the App.

Help is available from the office if needed.  If you don’t have access to a smartphone, orders may be placed by paper copy through the office.

When does the breakfast program operate?

The breakfast program operates every morning until the school bell at 8:40am.  This program is operated by volunteers. Toast & fruit are offered every day.  There are a couple of mornings where special items are offered, eg Milo Monday, Cheesy Tuesday at certain times of the year.

How often is assembly?

Assemblies happen at the beginning and end of each term and are always advertised in the school newsletter and on the webpage calender. Every class is involved in organising assembly throughout the year. Assemblies provide an opportunity to recognise achievement and develop a sense of belonging to the whole school.

What are the school’s guidelines if my child has headlice?

Upon detection of head lice your child will need to be treated, removing all eggs, before they can return to the school classroom. It is advised that they should be treated again 3 days later, in case lice were missed in the first treatment.

When treatment has been applied, please inform the office so that this issue can be dealt with in the most appropriate way for both parents & students. An information sheet is also available with detailed treatment guidelines to help deal with this issue and minimise the impact on your family. Early treatment can prevent the spread to further close contacts.

More information can be found by clicking here.

What do I do, if I have a problem about something that has happened at school?

We would encourage all parents to discuss any issues that you have with the teacher involved so that a solution that is agreeable to both can be worked through. If you think this is inadequate, the parent should then talk with the specific Head of School about the issue.

What about social media?

Parents are asked to use social media wisely and to speak positively about the school. If there is an issue, please discuss this first with the appropriate school person. If using photos of school life on social media, please use discretion, being considerate of people’s feelings & privacy.

When should I update my contact details?

If you have moved house or acquired a new phone number, please contact the office with the new information as soon as possible.

If your family situation has changed or your child has new medical information, it is very important that the school always has the most current information.

How best can I support my child in their education?
  • Be clear about school expectations & encourage your child to participate to the best of their ability

  • Meet their class teacher, Head of School and other teachers

  • Don’t hesitate to ask questions when you have a concern

  • Share information with their teacher about changes at home that may affect your child’s behaviour & performance at school

  • Support your child in all school activities.  Sometimes our education program may put your child outside their comfort zone.  Please support your child in full participation as this helps to build resilience.

  • Maintain regular contact with your child’s teacher.
