Every student is encouraged to keep developing their strengths & interests

Learning Support Centre

Laura Anderson

Mrs Laura Anderson - Learning Support

The Learning Support Department at Circular Head Christian School aims to provide support to students who need additional assistance in key learning areas. The Learning Support team works in partnership with staff, parents and outside agencies to provide an environment for students to experience success and achieve their full potential.

We recognise that every student is purposefully made just the way they are. We aim to target where students are at and keep on developing them according to their strengths, gifts and interests. Learning support staff will encourage each child to be positive about their future, for they have great things ahead of them.

The responsibility for differentiation is predominantly that of classroom teachers who create a safe learning environment. Class teachers are supported by the Learning Support Team to facilitate the students’ participation in meaningful and relevant activities. Withdrawal of students for work on an individualised or small group program occurs when the need for such an approach is considered appropriate and is done in consultation with families.

Students can attend the Learning Support Centre for 1 - 2 sessions per week and are able to practise life skills including; completing forms, conversational skills, reading recipes, cooking, food handling, creating meal plans, taking drink orders and making drinks, laundry skills, money skills, everyday maths, everyday literacy and healthy lifestyle including gym workouts.
